Mendocino Cliffs - 12" x 16" - Acrylic - available The Mendocino Coastline is a stretch of the California coast is both wild and meditative. Rock Spires - 8" x 12" - Acrylic - available This view focuses on a cluster of eroded rock spires deep within the Bryce Amphitheater. These hoodoos are shaped by centuries of freeze-thaw and seem to rise like figures frozen in motion. Note the rhythm of vertical shapes and the subtle variations in shadow and color from base to tip.
Walking Up the Avenue - 12" x 16" - Acrylic - Sold
Walking Up the Avenue - 12" x 16" - Acrylic - Sold walls rise on either side like ancient architecture. The perspective shifts with each step, revealing new angles and changing light. Virgin River Canyon View - 12" x 16" - Acrylic - available
Virgin River Canyon View - 12" x 16" - Acrylic - available The Virgin River winds through this part of Arizona with a quiet, steady presence. Three Sisters and the Thumb - 12" x 16" - Acrylic - available The Three Sisters and the Thumb are slender rock formations that stand apart from the larger buttes, each with its own character. From this angle, they seem almost figurative, like dancers frozen mid-step. I painted this view in strong light, focusing on the contrast between the delicate forms and the surrounding open space.

The Mitten - 10" x 18" - Acrylic – sold
The Mitten - 10" x 18" - Acrylic – sold From a lower viewpoint within the valley, the Mitten Buttes take on a different presence — taller, more sculptural, and more solitary. This piece highlights their shape in relation to the open desert floor, with long shadows stretching toward the viewer and a deeper sense of scale and quiet.

Monuments - 24" x 36" - Acrylic - available
Monuments - 24" x 36" - Acrylic - available The classic silhouettes of Monument Valley rise dramatically from the desert floor. I painted this view in the late afternoon, when the light softens and the buttes begin to glow. The sense of scale and isolation in this place is profound, and I tried to convey that in the composition and tonal shifts.
Saguaro - 12" x 16" - Acrylic - available
Saguaro - 12" x 16" - Acrylic - available This painting reflects a desert landscape full of life — Saguaro National Park near Tucson is filled with these iconic cacti, standing tall like sentinels. Bryce Twilight - 9" x 12" - Acrylic – available
Bryce Twilight - 9" x 12" - Acrylic – available At twilight, the colors of Bryce Canyon become more muted but no less dramatic. The last light of day glows along the rim while the hoodoos below fall into cool shadow. This painting captures that moment of transition — when detail fades but atmosphere deepens.

Most of the paintings in this series were developed from on-site sketches and reference photos — some taken during my travels, and others generously provided by my teacher and friend, Chris Kolupski, whose feedback was also invaluable throughout the process.

Between Earth and Sky

Between Earth and Sky presents recent landscapes spanning the vast canyons and sculpted rock formations of the American Southwest to the rugged cliffs and luminous waters of the Pacific coast.

My work explores the dynamic meeting points of permanence and change — where immovable stone meets drifting cloud, where the ocean presses endlessly against the land. These are moments of transition and tension, but also deep stillness.

Each canvas is not just a record of place, but an invitation to pause and engage with the living landscape. In my process, light becomes a storyteller — revealing form, depth, and atmosphere, and transforming earth and water into moments of awe and connection.
